You do not need a fishing license while fishing with us! Your party is covered under our guide’s licensing whilst fishing on our boat. If you intend to fish from the beach or local bridges whilst on your stay, you should check out the Maine Saltwater Registry at the Maine Dept of Marine Resources site https://www.maine.gov/dmr/fisheries/recreational/licenses-registry. Note: If you are on a trip with us, and there is left-over bait that you caught, we will be glad to package it for you and offer suggestions as to how to catch fish from the shore.

You are welcome to keep any legal fish you catch (proper size, in season, within bag limit). The captain or crew is glad to fillet or in some case dress your fish for you and pack it up. We will provide ice for all day trips and can keep your fish fresh on half day trips with live well and/or water bath. Also, we will be happy to offer suggestions as to how to cook various species with various methods. You should bring a cooler for transport home. This may be left in your vehicle if you wish.

Children are welcome. When bringing children, consider the length of the trip (most no problem with half day). Mackerel trips are usually fast paced and lil ones don’t get bored. By law we are required to have type I pfds (big, bulky, uncomfortable) aboard. Also, Maine state law requires children ten and under to have a life preserver on the dock. So, if your child[ren] has a comfortable life preserver, bring it. If not, we can accommodate. Just notify the captain and we can meet you before coming down the dock.

The weather can be highly unpredictable. It can be eighty-five degrees and sunny at the dock, but foggy, dark, and cold just a little way out. Therefore, we highly recommend bringing sweatshirts, possibly long pants and on some days, light rain gear. It can also be extremely hot and bright in the sun. So, hats and sunglasses are highly recommended.
